The delegates arrive throughout the day on Sunday, and are picked up at the airport and brought to Casa de los Amigos, the Quaker House hostel in Mexico City. The house is located in a business district near the center of the city. We get together as a group for the first time late Sunday afternoon.

The session is devoted to getting to know each other, and to clarify our purpose in being here. For one activity we each draw the river of our life. Later we use the drawing to share with the group about what has led us to be here in this place and this time.

We end our day by walkiing en mass to the nearby Cahuich restuarant to have dinner. The restuarant serves Yucatecan-style food, including enchildas de mole and fruta, a mixture of several fruit juices. Throughout our trip we experience delicious fruit, and fruit juices, unaltered by supermarket processing. Even sandwiches (later in the trip) are better with chicken that tastes like real chicken. As on most of the following days, we eat accoring to the Mexican meal schedule (supper at 8pm, breakfast around 8am, lunch around 2 pm).
